Während die Klesmer Teil der Kulturgeschichte Salzgitters sind, wird die Gegenwart von
Jazzfestivals, Kunstausstellungen, Konzerte, aktuelle Kinoprogramme oder Workshops
bestimmt. Die Aktivitäten entfalten engagierte Kulturvereine und städtische Fachdienste
sowie Konzertagenturen, die sich auf Literatur, Musik, Fotografie, Theater und andere
Schwerpunkte spezialisieren.
Beliebte Kristallisationspunkte im Kulturgeschehen sind die Veranstaltungszentren Knie-
stedter Kirche in Salzgitter-Bad und die Kulturscheune in Alt-Lebenstedt. Insbesondere
während der Ringelheimer Orgeltage im Mai und der Musiktage im Herbst kommen Lieb-
haber klassischer Musik auf ihre Kosten. Von Zeit zu Zeit rockt es in Salzgitter. Im Innenhof
des Schlosses Salder beim „Kultursommer“-Programm oder beim Open Air auf der Insel im
Salzgittersee können Fans live dabei sein, wenn ihre Pop-Idole auftreten. Ihre Visitenkarte
hinterlegt haben bereits Marius Müller-Westernhagen, Herbert Grönemeyer, PUR, Schlager-
größen wie Al Martino und Patrick Lindner, die Deutsch-Rocker Böhse Onkelz, BAP oder
Wir sind Helden. Den Kultursommer komplett machen Musical Night, Kleinkunst, Jazz und
Rock. Überaus beliebt ist auch das Museumsfest, das traditionell am Muttertag stattfindet.
Events, art & culture
While the Klesmer are part of Salzgitter‘s cultural history, the
present is a kaleidoscope of jazz festivals, art exhibitions, con-
certs, contemporary cinema and workshops. The activities are
promoted by enthusiastic cultural associations and municipal
services, as well as artists‘ agencies specialising in literature, mu-
sic, photography, theatre and other topics.
Among the popular centres of cultural life in the city are venues
such as the Kniestedter Kirche in Salzgitter-Bad and the Kultur-
scheune in Alt-Lebenstedt. Lovers of classical music are particu-
larly well served by the Ringelheim Organ Festival in May and the
autumn Music Festival. Of course from time to time Salzgitter also
rocks. Pop fans can enjoy live music during the “Kultursommer” in
the courtyard of Schloss Salder, and when open air concerts take
place on the island in the lake. Names which have already topped
the bill include Marius Müller-Westernhagen, Herbert Grönemeyer,
PUR, pop heroes Al Martino and Patrick Lindner and home-grown
German rockers such as the Böhse Onkelz, BAP and Wir sind
Helden. The “Kultursommer” programme also includes a Musical
Night, cabaret, jazz and rock. The Museums Festival is another
very popular event, and traditionally takes place on Mothers‘ Day.
